Conceptual nominee

A few years ago I began a series of photos titled "Misbegotten Places". Here I create imaginary places by making small dioramas which are in turn built from photographs that I have taken in my travels. Creative lighting, camera angles and composition render these images almost lifelike. Yet there is always something that jars the viewer into questioning their truth. Hence the term Misbegotten.
I am drawn to create these surreal photographs out of a sense of awe and wonderment for the places they represent. Knowing that I create them from my imagination drives me to reach deeper into my subconscious mind to produce more.
