Hurricane Ridge (Series)
DESCRIPTION
On a trip to Seattle and the Olympic Peninsula, Washington in July 2013, the day we planned a trip to Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park, it was overcast and cloudy. We knew the views at the top were supposed to be beautiful, so took the chance that it might clear. As we drove through the clouds (image 01), we emerged at the top to a spectacular view of the Olympic Mountain tops (image 02) and ridges (image 03) made more dramatic by the remaining clouds. The forests of fir trees (image 04) were vast and an intricate part of the mountain scenery.
AUTHOR
My interest in photography began several decades ago when I took a photography course in high school. Inspired by Ansel Adams, I went on a prolonged trip to see and photograph the western US, after which I realized that my interest in photography should be as a hobby. After a family picture phase, I started using photography as my creative outlet. Being fortunate enough to have traveled extensively, photography has helped me see and experience many wonderful places, and has provided me with a variety of interesting subject matter from distant landscapes to abstract close-ups. I still love black and white photography and thanks to the digital age, focus on converting some of my better images to black and white.
