The photographs were taken in Baracoa during a recent trip to Cuba. Baracoa is a small coastal town on the North East tip of Cuba and as yet hasn't suffered the impact of intense tourism found in parts of Havana.
I am interested in how places change at night and get used by people. During the day the streets were busy with people going about their daily tasks, but at night the whole town seemed to switch into a different mode. Gone were the classic car taxis, the buzzing mopeds, old Russian lorries and general hustle. Instead the streets returned to the people and became Football Grounds, Cricket Pitches, Dance Floors, Meeting Rooms and seating areas for Bars and Cafes. Yet there was no rush, no mad clamouring for space, just a relaxed transformation into a different night-time realm that felt almost dream like. It is this I hope my shots provide a sense of.
