Painting in the Dark (Series)
DESCRIPTION
“Painting the Dark” is my second on going series that I’ve started in 2009. It goes back to my childhood as to how I got to start this series. I have an extensive background of painting as a child. I was discouraged to paint as I got older and I stopped painting or making any types of art for a while. My dad got me a camera and it became a new medium that substituted painting. From my history of painting, I saw the darkness at night as a black canvas. The act of lighting up something in the dark is like painting (coloring) to me. The act of doing so is giving it a life and showing how I perceive the landscapes. I am fascinated by how lights can affect the darkness and how different you can make the landscape look with lights. The landscape becomes my canvas.
