Night Photography nominee

I took this photo at Silver Lake near in Mammoth Lakes. The photo consists of one exposure (18 minutes). The weather worked to my favor in this case, with just enough clouds in the sky to see the effect of them passing over the exposure, but the sky is also clearly visible. I believe that this transition from the sky in the right side of the image to the clouds in the left side fits perfectly with the roll of the stars in the sky. I also got lucky during the exposure when a lone car drove by, adding a streak of light along the lower right corner of the photo.

I am entering my senior year of high school and have been taking photographs for three years. I was recently awarded the Silver Key Award in the 2015 Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. My photographs have also been featured in various school publications.
