Nudes nominee

Based on Carl Jung’s theories within the ‘The Stages of Life’ these photographs were a self evaluation project. Based on these specific theories of; ‘The Shadow’ and ‘The Persona’. I felt drawn to these theories, as part of my self analysis I started to become aware that I myself have many Personas and I have a habit of hiding parts of myself in my Shadow. This project was my way of representing these theories and how they relate to me. Using self portraits and the use of a 5x4 Camera, I wanted to grasp a real essence of the two opposites coming together, and a real essence of self analysis. The contrasting backgrounds were a way of which I found I was able to illustrate the contrasts between The Persona and The Shadow. When thinking of ‘The Stages of Life’ which is what these theories are categorised under, I wanted explored ways of showing this idea of life having different stages of growth and development, in the way I posed my body in front of the camera, from being in the fetal position on the floor, to being stood up straight, as seen in illustrations of evolution.
