Special: Family 2nd place winner

There are young couples in their rented apartments. I tried to get out of comfort zone, to escape from a certain accepted standard when shooting young couples and show the situation at sensual level which closer to reality and more intimate.
It's impressive how much information can be accommodated in a single static image. It can be some event that, at the moment of the shooting, has already occurred, or is happening right now, or will happen in a few minutes. It is also possible to show the absence of something, by an appropriate frame staging. The uncomfortable situation and the position of the body takes away the secure, certainty sense of things, makes them more weak and vulnerable and allows them to open up.
With every photo I’m re-amazed about the world – the fact we exist as humans, that we have nature, that we move our lips and words come out, that we wear cloths and diverse, we see dreams, love someone, cry, that you can touch and smell and etcetera. I am trying to translate this information into an image, to sculpt it, to create my relation with it, to show how I see it.

Originally, I’m from Pyatigorsk ,the North Caucasus region of Russia, I was born in 1979 and since 2000 I live in Israel. B.F.A. from Bezalel academy of arts and design, photography department, Jerusalem.

I participated in Japan Media Arts Festival, where I got the Excellence Prize. Was presented by Stella art foundation gallery as part of the festival for young art in Moscow, took part in the Festival of staged photography and be presented there by Aktives Museum Spiegelgasse fur Deutsch-Judische Geschichte in Wiesbaden.
I also received the Scholarship by The America-Israel Cultural Foundation, and the Prize of Lorin and Mitchell Presser for exellence in photography. My photos were published in Burn Magazine, where I was twice the Finalist of Emerging Photographer Fund.

Recently I was awarded Creativity Encouragement Prize by Israel’s Ministry of Culture and Sport. Took part the main exhibition programme of Benaki Museum, Athens, Greece and MoBy Museum in Israel. As well I became a laureate of DongGang International Photo Festival, South Korea and was nominated for Top 10 Photographers of the World, Sente-Antu, China.
In Malmö, Sweden I had personal exhibition in Fotogalleri Vasli Souza.
