ORANG UTANS (Series)
DESCRIPTION
Portraits of orang utans at the Singapore Zoo
AUTHOR
First winner of the Fine Arts Photography Awards 2015 for Abstract (Amateur) category with No Head No Tail, a series of abstract bird photographs.
Richard Seah is described by his photographic buddies as an “uptight photographer” - a reference to his signature close-up tight-cropping style. His images tend towards the abstract and impressionistic.
Richard also tends towards the alternative and he shoots a broad range of uncommon subjects.
Yet his basic approach is that of “portraiture“. Whether he shoots people, animals, birds, trees or inanimate subjects like mannequins, his approach is to focus on the personality of the subject, rather than the overall scene or story. In fact, he prefers to hint at a story rather than telling it straight, resulting in abstract and semi-abstract images.
Collections include:
– Abstracts of humans, animals and birds.
– Portraits of mannequins
– Anonymous Portraits
– Multiple exposures of trees and landscapes
– Multiple exposures of cityscapes
- Photographs of hands, legs and feet
– Prayer and spirituality
– Back alley scenes of graffiti and other wall art
– Abstract landscapes and cityscapes
