Number of Death: 15,889 / Number of Missing: 2,594
4 years have passed since The Great East Japan Earthquake
It is recorded as ‘a’ great disaster but it will not be long before it becomes ‘a’ history.
However, sadness and suffering have been engraved on individual mind of all victims. Actually, there are 15,899 stories as ‘My son was killed by the collapsed house.’ There are 2,594 stories as ‘My wife has been missing by Tsunami.’ Nowadays, the number of opportunities to hear such a story from victims have been decreasing year by year.
One day, I had an opportunity to see things left behind. When I saw them, I could not help imaging a variety of stories from them. So I was determined to capture those things. And these works are the records of these ‘individual stories’.

Bio
I’m a photographer based in Japan. Born in Japan in 1980. I graduated from economic department of university. While working in businessman, I started studying photography on my own since 2009.
From Oct. 2014, I signed with Art Upclose-a gallery in NY about the promotion of my works.
And the latest portfolio, Individual was completed with things left behind of The Great East Japan Earthquake.
