Conceptual nominee

The subjects photographed are from a West Coast band from Victoria, B.C. named Current Swell. They are a very popular roots/indie rock band whose manager actually gave me my first start in concert photography (albeit, unexpected) in the local music scene back in 2011. It then quickly led me into shooting music festivals with even more well-known bands from around the world. I was asked to take some promo shots of the band, so we went on this trail which had these trees that were positioned in perfect "dividers" or "frames" for a photo. We decided to have a little fun with that. Later while editing I realized that I liked two of the photos from that specific location and wondered what it would look like side-by-side. The result turned into this photo. It was only by happenstance that it looked like it was taken on an incline.

I won a Nikon "Moments to Remember" photo contest via Facebook in 2010. In 2011, I somehow managed to fall into concert photography by luck! And "right place, right time" sort of thing. I had a beginners DSLR with me at a local venue and the manager asked if I could take photos for him and his band headlining that night. I immediately accepted, and before I knew it was introduced to a world of music. A dream come true. Since then, it's only been 4 years since i've been shooting live shows, concerts, and music festivals.
