This Series shows the yet unfinished "DITIB Central Mosque" in Cologne, Germany, a most outstanding building in a multicultural and very open-minded town.
My interpretation of this organic building utilizes Selective Color in a dark, menacing red for the windows, referring to the, sadly, ever-present hate some people show against muslims, especially here in Germany. They are the ones also demonstrating against the completion of this Mosque, seeing it as a threat.
I want to show with this series that, however dark and menacing you picture the islamic religion, their architecture is an enrichment for every city and people should be more open-minded about religious freedom.
