Artist Statement:
Prue Platt-Hepworth confronts the expectation of perfection in today's consumer society in a way that is simultaneously beautiful, disturbing and challenging. In this series, the evocation of a sharp contrast between imperfection of the chosen consumables and the perfection of the human form challenges each of us to reflect on our views about the impact of this on our values and its persisting effects in our daily lives.
A campaign by the French supermarket chain Intermarché is on a mission to make shoppers see the inner beauty in scarred, disfigured, or otherwise odd-shaped fruits and vegetables.
