"Fetus" is a reflection on the place of the human being in nature, as well as on human nature itself, in a world that too often values the superficial, consumerist and venal.
The human being is born naked, and unlike other living beings, it is not naturally suited to the natural world. It lacks instinct, natural protection, and any biological tools attached to the body. What makes a human being "human", what characterises and differentiates it from other species, are a combination of bipedalism, the use of both hands and opposable thumbs, language, clothing, and the ability to think and plan. Many of these are not natural attributes, but cultural acquisitions.
Through unrealistic scene of a naked character in the middle of Icelandic landscape, I wanted to strengthen the artificial nature of the human being and the efforts it has to make to survive in the wild.
The framework of the picture I have chosen is symbolic: Iceland, land of fire and ice, although beautiful, is a land naturally hostile to the human being. Earth where nature takes back its rights...

AUTHOR
I am a Belgian photographer specialized in maternity photography and I am also a Fine-Art photographer. Over these years, I managed to develop my own style and vision and won several awards at international photography competitions.
During my childhood, I studied to become a pianist. Music has had an influence in the way I conceive photography, a medium to both visualise and create other worlds and to allow me to believe in the best our world has to offer.
Through my pictures, I create storytelling in a poetic and artistic ways by seeking hope and love and also beauty in Nature (through darkness).
