In this series I use a crown to symbolize power, allowing the word to be used as a noun rather of an adjective. Considering the conflicting power dynamic that has developed in my family due to my parents divorce, my subject matter is my immediate family. I asked each family member how they viewed the concept in relation to their lives. For example I asked, “Do you possess any amount of power in your life and in what way? How would you like to be interacting with the crown, considering it represents power?” Due to age and each persons’ role in the family, they all answered differently. Talking bluntly about this topic unleashed information on how each individual feels about their position in the family and the world.
Each photograph is taken on 120mm film and developed into a 8x8inch silver gelatin print.
