Night Photography nominee

This image is very special to me. It was taken on the last night of my previous trip. After learning that we were going to have over cast conditions, I pretty much had my bags packed for my flight departing within a couple of hours. But after hearing about the change in conditions, decided to head out one last time to chase the elusive Aurora Borealis. Now, I know what it feels like to win the lottery!

My name is Siddharth Prem and I reside in Dubai. I'm a systems engineer, currently working for an energy solutions company. I've always been fascinated with space and astronomy. The moment I realized I could learn my way around the night sky with a DSLR & long exposures, it sparked my interest in photography. I find it a great hobby to counterbalance work and everyday routine. Ever since I launched my website back in 2015, my images have received over 10 million views and one of them was picked as the editors' favorite submission to the 2015 National Geographic photo contest.
I'm not a photo journalist. My photographs are the result of how I perceive a particular scene. But I do not contour or add fake elements to my photographs. I utilize light-room & camera-raw along with techniques such as digital blending & focus stacking multiple images shot within the same time frame, to give my images better dynamic range. I'm not a fan of compositing images.
