THE BIRTH OF VENUS (TODAY)
A reflective view on the classical myth of the Greco-Roman tradition: The Birth of Venus (Rome)/Aphrodite (Greece).
Venus/Aphrodite as goddess of love and later linked to eroticism by some authors, evidently also linked with the image of femininity, the idea of external beauty and substantial importance within the idea of womanhood, that has permeated the collective subconscious with the specific concepts of beauty, love-eroticism and femininity, mainly to a Western culture.
A prolific myth in the history of painting, here treated photographically, an allegedly realistic means (like painting before the nineteenth century) in the pictorial style typical of the author, proposes to reflect on the reality and its modification at the same time, hinging on projected ideals and exploring those ancient conceptions that continue to guide us today.
This work is related to my personal experiences but also related to women who preceded me and share a place with me nowadays. My vision of the woman is mainly, due to the extensive traumatic history that has suffered, of a resilient attitude and ensuring the care of others from the courage and commitment.
A Re-Birth of woman in the new millennium.
