Open Theme nominee

This Black-and-White series captures random objects, people and places taken in urban surroundings we usually do not pay much attention to or even consider aesthetic. Either close or far, these images represent different facets of urban life. It is a particular beauty in structure, lines, light and contrast which is mostly not recognized by people. My aim is to make people rest and look at the ordinary beauty surrounding us - no matter if it relates for example to dirt, worn-out concrete walls, an old person waiting for the subway or even a moth resting on an old bar light.

I am a fulltime PR Manager at an IT company in Germany. Besides my main job I am a passionate amateur photographer. I like to capture the beauty of ordinary things in life we usually go by without paying much attention to. I am especially fascinated by Black-and-White-Photography. Working without the full color spectrum gives me the possibility to focus on structure, light, contrast and shadows. Within the field of Black-and-White-Photography, I mostly capture images co-relating with the genres of Design Photography, Minimal Photography, Architectural Photography, Street Photography and Macro Photography. I consider Fine Art Photography as the umbrella term related to my work.
