Condensation runs down the windows, wallpaper scraps adorn unplastered walls, the air is piping hot, keys are hung on a makeshift polystyrene rack, a splash of graffiti colour warms the cold concrete, old cargo crates are now tables, a bicycle hangs on the wall and in between it all - normal life. Two young architects and an old unrenovated Erfurt building – a symbiosis of raw beauty, living as an art form and austereness. Shovelling coal as a lifestyle and pure freedom on the walls.
I took very specific portraits in the building before glamour and style returned – walls say more than a thousand words.

AUTHOR
EMILBLAU/Martin Geyer: Architect, Photographer, Author. Born in Germany in 1983, I studied in Berlin and now, since 2011, live in Zurich after stops in Australia and Barcelona. In addition to my full-time job as an architect, I have produced photographic orders in the architectural and portrait sector for different customers. Every year I focus on new, independent projects. Historical topics (f.e. Frist World War, Berlin Wall) and current issues like social and urban upheavals are my main focus. I present my work at www.emilblau.de.
