People nominee

Bound to the sea, boys from the Caribbean town of La Caleta, located Southeast of the Dominican Republic, spend their free time doing acrobatic diving and testing the moods of the volatile Caribbean waters.

Their interaction with the sea through dives and sometimes risky challenges, represent a way for them to display their skills, bravery and symbiosis with the ocean.

To be part of, to live and to dominate their capricious waters , is a calling for the boys of La Caleta.

Based in the city of Montreal, I am a Dominican photographer on a visual journey. I strive to capture the poetry that unfolds when the body becomes a living canvas. Movement, for me, is a language, whether it's a dancer's leap suspended in mid-air or the subtle sway of a body lost in thought. I am fascinated by the dialogue that unfolds when the body interacts with the world or the silent conversations between figures.
