DESCRIPTION
This photograph was taken in August 2014 in the community of Old Believers in Volga region, Russia during the day of the prayer for souls. While the elder members of community pray and sing, younger ones prepare a special dinner.
Old Believers continue liturgical practices that the Russian Orthodox Church maintained before the reforms introduced by Patriarch Nikon of Moscow in XVII century.
AUTHOR
I'm a teacher of physics, scientific journalist and amateur photographer.
As a photographer in 2014 I participated in documentary project "From White to Black sea" (http://whitetoblack.liberty.su). During two years a group of photographers crossed Russia from White Sea to Black Sea by yacht, documenting life along shores of rivers, lakes and channels. In March-May 2016 the results of this expedition are exhibited in Kaliningrad, Russia.
Several of my photo reportages were published in online magazine about documentary photography in

My photographs were on the final exhibitions of contests "The Best of Russia 2013", "III Biennale of contemporary photography" organized by The State Russian museum and "FUJIFILM X World Photo Gallery".
I had a personal exhibition in Penza, Russia in November-December 2015.
