The Wonderful People of Haiti (Series)
DESCRIPTION
I recently returned from my second trip to Haiti to participate in the GEORGES STINES FOUNDATION volunteer dental program. The photography opportunities in Haiti are everywhere and I enjoyed photographing many of the locals in the towns, villages and in the rural areas of Haiti. The people are stoic and energized to to make a good life for themselves and their families despite their poverty and challenging circumstances since the earthquake six years ago. I have a series of photographs taken with lots of compassion and interest in their well being. These images were takne in Pétionville, Haiti; La Vallée-de-Jacmel; Bassin Bleu, near Jacmel; The small villages near Port Salut, Haiti;
AUTHOR
I have done extensive traveling throughout the United States, Europe, México, South America and the Caribbean Islands with my Nikon camera and my interests in nature, art, architecture and people. I love to travel and photograph my experiences in all kind of color, light and gesture. My most inspirational trip was with “National Geographic – Assignment in San Miguel de Allende, México”, a photography workshop in November 2006. It was a wonderful trip to enjoy Central America and experience and learn about photography with five highly recognized National Geographic and Santa Fe Workshop photographers. I find taking photographs of people the most challenging and the most gratifying at the same time. Custom framing my photographs has also been a pleasurable experience utilizing eclectic framing materials and mixing different colors and textures. Choosing frames that enhance the photographs adds to the artistic quality and uniqueness of each and every photograph. I recently took two trips to Haiti with a dental foundation and took some awesome images of the stoic and wonderful people of Haiti. I also visited Ecuador and captured the many colors, head wraps and wonderful people of this interesting country touching the equator of our world.
