This series is part of a larger selection of photographs entiltled ‘Sand & Stone’. It aims to highlight the graphic elements and compositional simplicity of two very different locations/ subject-matter - the sand dunes of the Moroccan Sahara and the chimney stacks of Gaudi’s La Pedrera apartment building in Barcelona.
Whatever the location, it is the combination of shapes and tones, abstract contours, textures and lines of each photograph that bring them together.
“My images are an intuitive expression of my inner world. What is most relevant to me are the plastic and graphic qualities of the subject. But being able to capture a detail that will reveal the essence of what I see is also important. The search for the perfect composition is what brings the image together and my photographs often end up being abstract, timeless, and enigmatic.”

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
Sandrine Rousseau spent many years living abroad before settling 16 years ago in a remote mountain area of the French Pyrenees. During this time Sandrine has worked on various documentary photography projects which has led her to develop her passion for fine-art photography.
In her work, Sandrine is a purist. She has a designer’s sensibility and her architectural images are bold, compelling, and also complex in their simplicity. She sculpts with light and uses strong graphic elements in her compositions – thus creating a symphony of shapes and tones, abstract contours, textures and lines.
