DESCRIPTION
Gillian Hyland is an image maker, she personally composes every aspect of her pictures. Gillian has worked in the visual industry for 14 years as a stylist, art director and set designer. This diverse background helped her realise and develop an artistic, photographic approach.
She creates imaginative, theatrical environments in which she evokes emotion through colour, symbolism, texture and atmosphere. The images are not a literal description of a memory but an ambiance, enabling the emotional core and mood to shine through.
" Words in sight, is a narrative photography series which has been inspired by poems I’ve written over the past decade. The poems capture my life and emotions in words, theses images are an interpretation of them. They are a new perspective on past events. The composition of each image suggests a larger narrative within a single moment. This series explores my sense of self and society and aims to engage and evoke an emotional response from the viewer"
