Coraline (Single)
DESCRIPTION
This photograph is a self portrait of myself. After being inspired by the work of Jose Romussi, a photographer who embroider thread into photographs, I too decided to embroider thread into one of mine. In addition to thread I also added buttons over the eyes, and using color pencil added blush on the cheeks and colored the lips to this other wise black and white photo. The photograph it self is inspired by the book Coraline by Neil Gaiman. In the novel when the main character, Coraline, goes to another world, her mother from that world has black buttons for eyes. The buttons and thread are meant to give off the appearance of a rag doll.
AUTHOR
I took photography in high school starting my sophomore year and continued until i graduated.Art plays a major role in my life. I have always enjoyed drawing and writing but getting introduced to photography opened so many doors. I learned to express myself through a different form of art, that being photography. Instead of writing stories or drawing sketches, photography allows me to physically see my ideas in the flesh. I can take inspiration I get from books, movies or music and bring them to life in photographs. I can tell stories without leading them with words. I have traveled to different locations in the United States that broaden my horizon of what I like to photograph, ranging from objects to people to landscape I love how versatile it is. There’s the ability to go in any direction. There’s always something new to learn. Photography gives me creative freedom and that means a lot to me. Since im in college i continue to do freelance photography on my own time.
