These nudes on the shores of Utah's Lake Powell are from an ongoing book/exhibition project I've been working on for the last three years.
Following a near-death experience in 2014, themes of vulnerability, rescue, love, triumph, longing, and mourning often became the weft threads woven over the supporting warp of the landscape.
My photography continues the evolution of the nude within the landscape, building upon the works of Anne Brigman and Edward Weston. Like Brigman, I endeavor to generate emotional connections between you the viewer and the landscape. Digital photography’s ability to reproduce incredible detail and dynamic range allows me to expand upon Weston’s straight, photographic realism, with the additional impact of larger print sizes.
