I created these series of images while working with a charity in Konos, Sierra Leone.
I was working at a school, and at first glance, the children appeared sad, their eyes were gloomy and their faces showed the struggle that they go through.
I wanted to create a project where I would embrace happiness and the feeling of being grateful for what we have.
I gathered a group of girls and organised a photo shoot and a talk about how and why I became a photographer. I asked them to bring one object that meant something significant to them. I made them look beautiful and I made laugh. They brought different items such as blankets, knitted blouses, fake flowers, jewellery.
With these images I am trying to capture those little moments of happiness.
