The definition of sewing is to join, fasten, repair and mend. I added this word to my concept in a literal and metaphorical sense in this series. I chose sewing to show my emotions and how I mend myself. When I am going through hard times, I deal with them internally. I view it as mentally sewing myself back together. My Grandmother taught me how to fix things with simple stitches mending shirts or blankets for other people but instead I tried to apply this to myself. I ripped up photos of myself and sewed them back together to show that internal process I go through.
Combing scenes from inside my room and from thunderstorms it added a sense of comfort and discomfort while shooting this project. It was my goal to shoot photos that would reveal my sense of isolation, distance, and neglect. There are scenes of my room to show the neglect it gets, pictures of myself that reflect the isolation I force upon myself, and other images that would express the anxiety and sadness that I tend to feel. By using double exposures it I hoped to convey the feeling of loss or even the

Kylie Hull was born in 1996 in Phoenixville, PA. She is currently attending the University of North Texas in 2014 for her BFA in Studio Art with a focus on photography and a minor in marketing. She is expected to graduate in 2018.
