I am of Asian descent from my mothers side. While growing up I faced discrimination and prejudice which was hard to understand and deal with as a child. I was trying to find answers wherever I could and books on Asian history and culture were particularly therapeutic. These books helped me to emerge as a person, learn to look at things from a different angle, and even actively deal with negative situations. This experience has made me thick skinned but has not changed my inner world.
I still struggle with my experiences as a child, however I’m able to cope while I concentrate on Fine Art Photography which was born out of an emotional impulse.
In photography I have found a way to combine and extend my creative skills and above all express my inner world and start to heal myself. For me, the pictures are very personal because each is associated with memories, thoughts and feelings that I experienced during adolescence. I'm completely self taught in both photography and dressmaking. My intention for making these images is to show that there is no limit,we are all beautiful inside and shouldn't be judged by look.
