This series was inspired by the goddess-queen of the Mediterranean sea: Amphitritê (/æmfᵻˈtraɪtiː/; Greek: Ἀμφιτρίτη); wife of Poseidon, eldest of the fifty Nereides. Known as the female personification of the sea; the loud-moaning mother of fish, seals and dolphins.
Amphitrite, "the third one who encircles [the sea]", was so entirely confined in her authority to the sea and the creatures in it that she was almost never associated with her husband, either for purposes of worship or in works of art, except when he was to be distinctly regarded as the god who controlled the sea.
This series portray an alluring, dauntless and aeonian spirit, as Amphitrite was known for.
Co-produced with Valeria Aleksic, muse and support of my photographic works, who also modeled for this project.
