Flying high over Niger on our way to N'Djamena (Chad), the billions of stars in the Milky Way above show as a vertical luminous path in the sky.
At the same time, much closer to earth, violent thunderstorms spark and flash in a constant series of natural fireworks that are seldom seen in other places.
With so much moist in the convective flow of air around the equator, the thunderstorms here often melt together into incredible supercells of many hundreds miles wide and easily grow up to 70.000ft (22km) above sea level.
amateur category

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
Born and raised in The Netherlands in 1983, I was fascinated by natural light in all its forms since a young age.
Now working as a pilot, flying all over the world, I always have my camera with me to immortalize the world around me, be it from the cockpit or at destinations that I am fortunate to visit.
Capturing moments that have never been seen before and will never be seen again with eye for light, composition and mood.
