Photomanipulation nominee

This is an interpretation of my “summer dream”. I dreamt of being well enough to be back photographing under the night sky and the Milky Way and created a composite image to represent that. It is a timely reminder to “Look Up”. The ‘Emu' rising in the Milky Way is my favourite time of year, I find it magical being under it. The Emu is defined by the dark clouds as opposed to the stars in the Milky Way. The Emu's head is the dark Coalsack nebula, near the Southern Cross; the body and legs are other dark clouds trailing out along the Milky Way core towards Scorpius. Can you see him? Under the Night sky, you cannot help contemplate all those that have looked up before you and the surrounding myths and legends. In particular, The Emu in the Sky has featured in Aboriginal storytelling for thousands of years.
