Flower Series (Series)
DESCRIPTION
Red Drought, Pink Flood and Orange Smoke are part of a series that reflects the increasing threats of man's interaction with the natural environment. Each flower in the series represents is destroyed by a different form of environmental destruction. The outer edges of each flower are fractured and disintegrating, it is only when you look closely you see the cause. Although the majority of the flower remains in tact, reflecting hope, it is the juxtaposition of natural beauty and imminent destruction that engages and disturbs the viewer.
AUTHOR
Naida Ginnane has worked in Visual Arts education for the past 30 years. Born in Australia, she completed a B.Ed Art in 1985 and M. Ed in 2004.
I believe the role of the artist is not to make pretty things, but to challenge the viewer to question what they see and think. My work focuses on drawing attention to environmental issues facing this and future generations. I do this by making images that can be interpreted visually and symbolically, providing the discernment of deeper meaning. My intention for the viewer is both to delight and challenge.
