Myselves (Series)
DESCRIPTION
The current body of works have been completed through my efforts in recent years in order to understand the inner world of contemporary human in my own geography.
The people with whom, I now know, share strong and close similarities, as well as they do with one another. Those, despite whose apparent differences have shaped a unique identity in my mind. People filled with hatred, anxiety, peace, self-absorption, hope and despair.
My photographs depict people with stories of their true self, and show that in this age we can still look for the light within the darkness.
AUTHOR
Ali Sabouki, born in Shiraz (1985), works in Paris as an Iranian artist
and photographer. Ali attended the University of Art and Architecture
in Tehran to study Scenic Design. He has since worked across a variety
of mediums in theatre, movies, and visual arts
Over the last decade,
his focus has increasingly gravitated towards photography, portraits in
particular. His haunting portraiture explores the identity and connectedness
of the human spirit in isolation; taking stylistic cues from Old Masters while
exploring the human condition in modern life.
