Religion remains a very powerful means of finding consolation against
inevitable death, but it can serve to mark a border, to expel another, to
kill without remorse.
To consider a creed as the only true one is the principle towards fanaticism
and religious intolerance.
But nowadays we face a much more dangerous threat, where a state tries to
force citizens to embrace the right way to approach a religion, even to the
validity of intolerance to other religions.
It is a problem that is widespread, even in modern and advanced democracies.
The reappearance of this thought poses a threat to liberal societies, built
on the freedom and equality of its citizens.
