Coastal geometries (Series)
DESCRIPTION
The Coastal Geometries series captured the abstract patterns of the aquaculture activities of Fujian province in the southeast coast of China. While bamboo rods are erected for multi-purpose such as growing shellfishes, drying seaweeds and hanging fishing nets, they form unique geometries unintentionally and turn the seascape into an array of minimalist compositions with abstract lines and shapes. Following the fishermen at work the pictures narrate the story of fishing from a graphic perspective. Despite the aesthetics and cultural significance, some of these beautiful scenes are disappearing due to the rapid infrastructural development and reckless land reclamation in region. The series therefore aims to arouse public's awareness towards the conservation of traditional culture and the volatile landscapes in China.
