Enmesh is a series of images inspired by an interest in somatic memory. The images attempt to capture memories stored at a cellular level in the body – i.e. memories that may have been consciously forgotten but that are still remembered by our bodies.
Working with a domestic image scanner, the process involved attempting to sequentially archive these memories and their physical manifestations. Sometimes a vague idea of a memory was present before informing the area of the body to focus on. At other times, the body moved unguarded, uncovering memories and emotions that had been stored within it. The process then developed through the interplay between time, light and motion. The body travelled across glass in sync with the light scan, moving and adjusting its position through the duration of a single pass.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
I have a deep interest in the detailed physicality and organisation of the body. The body has it’s own voice and in my photography I work with it as a malleable and intuitive tool.
I began my training as a dancer in Australia and 1995 was granted a scholarship to finish my training at the Princess Grace Academy in Monaco, prior to starting my career as a ballerina, performing as a soloist in Germany for a number of years.
Moving to London I enrolled in a BA (hons) degree at Trinity Laban Centre in 2003. After graduating I worked as a contemporary dance artist and in late 2015 made the conscious decision to shift into photography.
In the last couple of years I have had my work published in print and online in numerous art and photography magazines and was nominated for the Bloom Award in 2017. I also won Life Framer’s international photography competition in the Human Body category in 2016, judged by Mona Kuhn. The work went on to be exhibited as part of a group exhibition in New York with Clampart Gallery, Reminders Photography Stronghold in Tokyo and Officine Fotografiche in Italy.
