Architecture nominee

For this series I wanted to showcase the beauty, the symmetry and the curiosity of Barcelona's streets. Those walking along the streets below and those living in the buildings pictured, are completely unaware that their scenes of everyday life create such a striking image when viewed from a different perspective.

Richard Vandegriend is a self-taught Vancouver based photographer whose passion is landscape and fine-art photography. Believing that composition and timing are critical to a great image, compositional elements are not altered in post-processing. Instead care and patience are exercised to ensure the image was captured perfectly in camera. As landscape photography is so dependent on lighting and weather conditions, more often than not, great images are discovered rather than planned. One must give themselves the time and opportunity to discover these images.
