Posey County Mountain Miniatures (Series)
DESCRIPTION
This conceptual photographic series originated with a number of rocks found during several canoe trips. Each of these rocks (up to 120 pounds) resembled a miniature mountainous spire. These rocks, along with dry mortar mix and cat litter sifted to varying degrees of coarseness were staged in my studio to represent miniature mountainous landscapes. In addition, I took many photos of both sky and natural foregrounds to digitally composite with the rock sets in order to produce a more convincing mountainous terrain. In honor of my father’s birthplace, the resulting photo series was named "Posey County Landscapes", even though Posey County, Indiana in the U.S.A. is totally flat farmland famous for producing outstanding melons.
