Blood Orchid (Single)
DESCRIPTION
Blood Orchid combines the alluring curves and flow of the rare blood orchid flower, with the natural beauty of the female body to create an image that exhibits the raw sexuality of the female reproductive system. Each element has it's own unique story, yet they combine to form an image that is hopefully beyond words. This composition was meant to take the viewer into the world of beauty, sensuality and complexity that is a woman.
AUTHOR
I was born in Canada and have been shooting as an amateur for several decades. I'm considered old school and only shoot film with film-based Nikon equipment. I studied Photographic Arts at Selkirk College in Castlegar, BC and completed it with honors. The vast majority of my work is performed outdoors with outdoor flash equipment, reflectors and natural light. Although my passion is shooting nudes in natural landscapes I also enjoy creating abstract art composed of human and non-human imagery resulting in new surreal pictures rich with added detail, color, texture, and conflict, [with a tinge of disturbing elements non-existent in their original components]. The marrying of these differing but co-existing worlds is also meant to demonstrate the close symbiotic relationship between men, women and the environment they all share. None of the images are meant to be "pretty" but instead, are birthed to evoke further thought and discussion to ensure the viewer is 'hooked', reflective and slightly off-balance.
As a man who has suffered from extreme manic depressive bi-polar disorder his entire life, the desire to create images for others to enjoy has saved my life many times over. Photography is a wonderful gift to share.
