Barcelona. 17th August, 2017.
Thy city was dyed with blood due to a terrorist attack in “Las Ramblas” comited by ISIS. The people of Barcelona hadn’t lived something similar since ETA’s bombing in the “Hipercor” thirty years ago.
That fateful afternoon a van hit hundreds of people killing 14 of them. Running away from the site, the terrorist stole another car and ended up killing the driver.
Some hours later, another terrorist attack occured in Cambrils causing another mortal victim. The day after, lots of people, some citicens of Barcelona and some that were just visiting the city those days, filled “Las Ramblas” with improvised shrines and altars in the places were each victim was killed.
The following days some manifestations under the slogan “No tenim por” (we are not afraid) were also held.
These manifestations were followed by all the different comunities of Barcelona, including the muslim one, who wanted to show their rejection to these terrorist attack.
11 days later, the different shrines were removed after being visited by hundreds of people.

Photography becomes the best way to express the feelings of the author of this project. His motivation resides in the necessity to explore and discover different cultures, capturing the experiences and sensations through images.
At the end of 2014 the author travels to the refugee Saharauis camps situated in the Argelian territory. From this experience, the “Mansiyún” project is created. The main purpose is to give voice to people that has been living in exile for more than 43 years.
Born in Gerona, Cristian Giráldez starts in 2013 his formation as a professional photographer in Grisart, getting a specialization in illumination and video.
Some of his photographies have been exposed in J.e.e.p (Journées Europénnes des Écoles de Photographie) Festival Circulation (s) of París, in “En Raw” in Grisart (Grisart Internacional Photography School), in “Gravedad y Arquitectura perfilada” in PuntMultimedia” space.
In 2017 “Mansiyún” is award by the “Photogenic Festival” with opportunity to expose in the “Galería fotográfica Il Mondo”.
In 2018 “Mansiyún” will be exponed in the “FineArt Igualada 2018”.
