Sole Witness (Series)
DESCRIPTION
This is a story about a woman of a certain age becoming intimately aware of her existence as if for the first time. It is a series of self portrait sessions, appointments with the camera. which sits in a safe place, recording the performance. It is the sole witness, a solitary audience member: the camera, the performer, the props.
AUTHOR
Jo Ann is a New York native, always engaged in creative pursuits. She landed on photography in 2001 after a class at ICP. She committed to the digital world after years in the black and white and color darkrooms. Her work is psychologically focused and explores the mysteries and complexities of human relationships, as it relates to herself, others, and place on both a micro and macro level.
She had been in over two dozen group shows including the Eclipse exhibit and Blue Sky Gallery, curated by Chris Rauchenberg, has been recognized for her first self published monograph by the Lucie Awards first book competition, and nominated for the Mack first book award, and written about by Jonathan Blaustien in the NYT Lensblog.
