for a while and an eternity
two perfect strangers
left the cities, the valleys, the cars
the hurry, the future, the past
and even the forecast behind
and as they ascended
the sky opened
with bellies full of polenta and cheese
and loacker and local beers
with too big rucksacks and morning rain in their ears
they were searching for the last refuge
as they stumbled in the roaring silence
over the omnipresent war
following the running deer
they found on the other side of the river
the other side of the moon
before they disappeared fully
behind the rainbow
in the old trenches up there
just a leap away from the sky
