CHRISTIAN CHURCHES WITH COLLAPSED DOMES DURING MEXICO´S 19-SEPT-17 EARTHQUAKE, AROUND THE VOLCANO POPOCATEPETL
(Craters of Don Goyo´s Ecclesiastic Belt)
Images taken with a quadropter of Christian churches with collapsed domes around the epicenter of the 19 September 2017 earthquake in central Mexico, which overlapped with the location and the activity of the Popocatepetl volcano.
At first, locating the churches was not easy, because I didn´t find relevant detailed information. My basic references were from local and Internet reports during the subsequent days. Then I traveled to the spots, supported with the information and commentaries provided by local settlers, insitu.
These are various images photographed during the three months after the earthquake, in the provinces of Puebla, Morelos, and Estado de México. It is a historical event without precedents, in churches built in XVI, XVII and XVIII Centuries.
I think and feel these are pictures with a strong symbolic strength, and sublime beauty.
