DESCRIPTION
I believe the subject matter of my work is a little touchy, which is transgender. My goal was not to document and to show transgender people and their lives through photography but to experiment with straight people and make them feel what transgender people go through. I started this project by doing medical research, which was based on transgender kids. Such research helped me to find out some interesting case studies, which became the main point of the project. Case studies are short explanations of the first symptoms. Therefore I can say that my work is not about transgender people themselves but more about the representation of them. To continue with my work I contacted three straight men and they agreed to participate in my project. Before each photoshoot I gave each man one case study to read and I asked each straight man to imagine what those people, who they were reading about felt. The reason I did that was to make a straight person imagine it was him, he was reading about and to see and to capture the reactions a straight man would have. One man started to cry...

Biography:
I am an Eastern European Fine Art and Fashion photographer. I was born in Belarus and was brought up in a dynamic and urban environment in the United Kingdom. I became interested in photography after I studied Fine Art in high school. My photography work evolved from black and white to colour and it includes studio photographs, portraiture, still life, lifestyle and beauty. My interest is in combining staged, documentary and fashion photography in one image with a hint of surrealism.
