What does it mean, if the background becomes the subject of the image?
The visible continuity of the background make it possible that it is crossed by the visible discontinuity. Usually, the background remains out of focus. With the pictures of the group of works “38 Seconds (From) There” it is different.
There are human-maschine-interactions within the exposure time and within every single matrix of these “tableaux vivants”. Both systems move at different speed: continously, the charge coupled device along a spiral coil of a view camera, and discontinously, the person towards the image border and back.
