Spending time with others does not imply knowing them. I consider that the same issue may appear when we spend time with ourselves. The "Imaginary borders" project appeared as I was trying to find an answer to the tendency of giving away our freedom in exchange for something that seems easier to understand, but has no value for us.
There were many causes which felt like borders I'm not allowed to cross, imagined so as to have an argument for staying in my comfort zone or an excuse for not being myself. Who I am may be weird, difficult, repulsive.
The two different styles of the photographs are meant to suggest the duality of the human nature and the fragileness of our own reality. The lighter, empty ones show a superficial place, where everything is already given and the obscure ones require the effort to adapt to one's personal experience.
