After a Tsunami, many houses are flooded with sand, destroyed, abandoned. In this work I seek to recreate that post-tsunami experience that remains in the body of lovers after a separation.
One day, before parting from a great love, I woke up with an image. A bedroom full of sand. In the middle of the room, a woman resembling an ancient doll next to a broken hourglass. A giant clock, surreal, big as the character. The time had spilled and stopped. The sand on the sand, frozen in that image, expressed the state in which I felt.
I knew then that I had to make that photo, like that, as part of the love duel. I wanted to break a clock so that life stops, to freeze the moment and stay there, like that, as it was. It was a way of putting out the pain and expressing the desire for permanence of something. But the storm had passed and there were only memories, remains of another time. What the tsunami left, the destruction. What is broken, what is broken, what does not work anymore.
