“With the rise of philosophy and, more recently, scientific thought, a mythological approach to the reality of daily life has come to seem of little value. Indeed, in modern industrial society myth and legend are almost dead, except as dimly remembered tales of earlier generations.” (Cotterell 1995)
From the beginning of time humanity had to find an explanation for the forces of nature – so people created spirits and gods. Almost every culture has deities for water, fire, earthquakes or wind. And there are many myths and legends about the mighty gods that control nature. Their wrath – floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, forest fires – always lead to inevitable destruction.
My project is about finding new and revising old gods, mythology and legends. There are no legends about the god of natural gas, goddess of coal, god of nuclear energy and goddess of fossil oil in any mythology, so I’ve created their four images with mixed light and photography.
