I am a human being. I am subject to decay. I am fascinated and scared of time that passes by.
I am in a constant state of transformation, yet I often desire to stay still.
With this piece called "Into our first world, shall we follow", I try to represent my ambiguous feelings towards time.
I got inspiration from T.S. Eliot who I particularly love for the Four Quartets.
The aim of the pictures was searching for that place where "time past and time future/What might have been and what has been/Point to one end, which is always present". So my Lady of Transformation departs through the gate "into our first world" and in passing through time she tries to conquer it.
She's somehow floating, like in a still dance, desiring to go through yet looking back to symbolize the enchainment of past and future into time present. She looks back so as to invite us. Shall we follow.
The technique is a digital photography composite. Overall I also got inspiration from Art Deco pieces; the graphic elements are there to insert uncanny details, to puzzle the viewer with something unexpected and invite her to a closer look.
