This long-term project consists in a personal search of natural or man-made sceneries that have a minimalist and close connection with the traditional Japanese ink-painting (sumi-e).
This painting has always been an important source of inspiration and has influenced my work in Japan for many years.
I feel that snow-covered trees or objects have a spiritual presence in these frozen landscapes. They pertain to contemplative sceneries that have inspired generations of philosophers and painters over time. Winter is the appropriate season to enhance the subtle beauty of snowy landscapes immersed in the deep and long silence that I try to convey in my photography.
